Cardcounting in Blackjack
|
|
Counting cards is a means by which a blackjack player can change the odds in blackjack in the player's favor. Counting cards is based on the premise that high cards (cards ranked 10 or aces) are better for the player's expectation than low cards (two's through six's). When there are more high cards in the deck, the player will receive more blackjacks, and since blackjack pays out at 3 to 2 odds, this changes the odds dramatically in the player's favor when the deck is rich in ten's. A card counter typically raises his wager size when the deck is rich in high cards. To be a successful counter you have to be able to count down a deck fast and memorize large tables of numbers as well as make it look like you're just a casual player. Furthermore, with today's rules, a realistic advantage the counter will have is only 0.5% to 1.5%. You will not win money slowly and gradually but your bankroll will go up and down like a roller coaster in the short run. Only in the long run, over hundreds of hours of playing, can you count on winning.
Here is one easy to use card counting system.
2-6 counts +1, 7-9 counts 0, T-A counts -1
You have to divide your count with the approximate number of decks left to get the real count.
When the real count is positive your odds have improved and you can start to bet more. When the real count is negative your odds are worse and you shold bet the minimum. With a real count of +4 you can start to bet big, your odds are very good. If the count are at +8 or higher you should bet the max.
